Organic Gunpowder Green Tea

Loose Leaf Organic Gunpowder Green Tea 

To Steep: Heat water until steaming (180°F).
Use 1 level tsp. per 8 oz. of water. Pour water over tea.
Steep for 1 to 3 minutes.

This “Pinhead” Gunpowder Green Tea is known for its small, tightly rolled, variegated grey-green leaves. The name "gunpowder" was coined by early European explorers, who thought the compact pellets resembled grains of gunpowder.

The brewed tea has a deep amber color with a slightly fruity, smoky-spicy flavor, a fresh vegetal twang, and medium astringency. The dense leaves keep essential oils and aroma locked in—helping maintain freshness.

Gunpowder tea is medium-bodied and not intended to be strong or bitter. If the flavor is overly bitter, the issue is often due to one of the following:

• Water temperature that’s too hot
• Too much tea
• Too little water
  

Because the leaves are tightly rolled, it’s easy to overbrew. Watch closely: once the leaves have fully opened, your tea is ready. Over-steeping can dull the flavor.
